How to Setup Two-Factor Authentication For cPanel?

Two-factor authentication (2FA) is an improved security measure that requires two forms of identification: your password and a generated security code. It provides an extra step to access your cPanel account.

For Enabling 2FA

1. Login to cPanel.

2. On the cPanel home page, under Security, locate Two-Factor Authentication.

3. Select Set Up Two-Factor Authentication on the page that appears.

4. A new page will open and either you can

  • Scan the QR code that appears, using our preferred two-factor authentication device.
  • If you do not have a QR code reader, you can use the option to manually configure the two-factor authentication within your app by using the blue box titled “Don’t have a QR code reader?”.

5. After scanning the QR code/ manually configuring the two-factor authentication, you will receive a security code.

6. Enter the security code received in the security code box.

7. Click Configure Two-Factor Authentication.

Two-factor authentication has now been enabled on your account.

Remove 2FA

To remove 2FA, click Remove Two-Factor Authentication.

Reconfigure 2FA

To reconfigure 2FA, click Reconfigure. Then, follow the steps to configure 2FA.
