How to redirect a domain in cPanel?

In some instances, there need to redirect site traffic from one domain to another. You can create a site or domain redirect in cPanel. This redirection helps to redirect visitors from old pages on a web site to newer or updated web pages. You can create a redirect for your domain in cPanel, cPanel can redirect multiple webpages.

For adding redirect:

1. Log into your cPanel.

2. Under Domain Section, click on the Redirects option

3. In the Type section, choose if you want to create a

  • Permanent (301)- this redirect will update the visitors' bookmarks and direct search engines to the new site,

 or

  •  Temporary (302) redirect- will redirect the visitor or search engine but will not update the bookmark and the search engine will continue to index to the original page.

 Generally, any redirects will be Permanent (which is the default).

4. In the next drop-down, select the domain, and then type the web page that you want to redirect.

5. In the redirects to the text box, enter the full URL of the destination web page.

6.  Select if you want your domain to redirect with www. or not.

7. If you want to redirect a specific file (such as info.html) enter it in the blank forward slash '/' field.

8. Choose if you want to do a Wild Card redirect. If you plan on redirecting all pages within one page to another, then choose the option for a Wild Card Redirect.

9. Once you are done, click on Add in order to create the redirect.
