What is a Sub-Domain?

A subdomain is an additional section of your main domain name. Subdomains will help to organize and navigate to different sections of your main website. Subdomains enable you to set up multiple websites using a single domain. That is, within your main domain, you can have as many subdomains as necessary to get to all of the different pages of your website.

The Domain Name System (DNS) is in place to create an Internet hierarchy to regulate the domains and subdomains. DNS identifies the internet domain names and their links with IP addresses, converts addresses (domain names).

With subdomains, it’s easier, both cost and performance-wise, to create several entirely different websites than to maintain one heavy multi-lingual site. Sub domains also helps in separating Your Blog or E-Commerce Site from Your Main Website. You can use a subdomain to provide a mobile-friendly experience for your visitors.
